KICK OFF

A BIG thanks to Debbie and her team for planning and executing our 2008 Kick Off.

Our theme was "Clearing A Space at Jesus' Feet". Our decorations were chaotic and a bit "unfinished". (You can see a bit of the decorations in the background of these photos.)

Debbie started the night by having us introduce ourselves and share what has most recently left us feeling frazzled. A special welcome to our new members: Bobbie Jo, Wendy and Tammy. {There are no photos of our illustrious VP Programs because the photo taken was not very flattering...and she's already been subjected to having her photo on this blog and the International Website numerous times. See? Grace! ::snort::}

Lois led us in worship.

De'Etta made her acting debut....as a frazzled mom with a deployed spouse....Photobucket

and who IS this obnoxious neighbor???? LOL

The pizza delivery man missed his cue...but we improvised with an Anita Renfroe clip....and more fellowship before dinner. It actually fit the overall theme quite well. LOL

We finished the evening by discussing Mary and Martha...and solutions to our Quiet Time (Tryst) challenges. Thanks ladies, both for sharing your honest challenges and for sharing tips to help others. Goodfellow PWOC is the best! :::sssshhhhh - don't tell:::

Bible Study material was passed out at the Kick off. If you did not get yours, please contact De'Etta or catch up with her on Sunday. The first lesson of Kinsman Redeemer will be discussed next Tuesday at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.

Farwewell Gift Assembly

In lieu of Project Night in July, several PWOC members met to assemble this year's farewell gift.

We got organized, prepared recipes and assembled three cookbooks. We'll have time to make a few more as the year goes on.

I think they are turning out very nicely. I'm still working on the covers.

Here are the three we finished. (I haven't a clue why these show up so small - they are big at photobucket - click photo to see an enlarged view).

*Note there will be no Project Night in August; we'll resume on 12 September.

FREDERICKSBURG ROAD TRIP!!!

On 21 June PWOC took to the road.

We shopped, enjoyed German food, visited museums and a wildflower seed farm and visited with each other. Here are photos from the day (though my very favorite one is not posted until Rachel gives permission! ::snort::)

This terrible photo (at least of yours truly) is posted so that others will never be able to say "you don't post bad photos of yourself". ::snort::

Many thanks to Debbie for arranging this trip, right down to the cooler of bottled water. You rock! Thanks also to Steve (our federally licensed designated driver). Keep your ears open for the next PWOC road trip.

If anyone else has photos they'd like to publish, email them to me and consider it done. LOL

Preparing for the Bridegroom - Spring Tea

31 May was the chosen afternoon for our PWOC "spring" Tea. Our theme was Preparing for the Bridegroom. We fondly remembered those things we did in prep for our weddings and marriages. The discussion was fun! Several mentioned learning what they could about the military lifestyle as they were about to become military spouses. WOW - I hadn't thought of that and it tied in with how we can spiritually prepare for our Spiritual bridegroom. We can learn about his lifestyle, study how we can be fit to help etc. We then talked about having a Tryst - "a secret, arranged meeting between lovers"; instead of a "spiritual discipline".

Vera & Debbie did all the set up. Everything was so pretty. Vera invited us into her lovely home.

Yolanda, made the elegant flower arrangements....and we all brought finger foods to add to the scones, crackers, cookies and drinks that Vera and Debbie had provided.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this little lady. I knew she would be the perfect hostess gift for Vera. She says "ready for love" and we talked about being ready to receive and give love to our Bridegroom. My children thought it was inappropriate for Miss Vera....but she seemed to love it.

I loved how God worked out the Tryst Journal doorprizes. Laura (nearly 20), Yolanda (30's?), and Evelyn (older than 30) all won.....isn't that great? Trish, a friend from a former assignment had made them for doorprizes.

2009/2010 Verse

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."
1 Peter 2:9-10(NKJV)

Secret Sister Summer

For the summer, we exchanged cards in order to pray for one another and to anonymously encourage one another.

Please lift your Secret Sister up in prayer daily. Feel free to send her cards, verses, funnies, whatever the Lord moves you to do. But remember... Keep it anonymous!

At the Fall Kick-off we will find out who are Secret Sisters are so we can thank them and follow up on those goals and prayers!

"My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God's grace for you. Stand firm in this grace." 1 Peter 5v12

Note from Christina on June 9~
Hello Sweet Sisters!

How is your summer going so far? Are you finding sweet notes of hope and love from your Secret Sister? Are you remembering to share hope and love with your Secret Sister? Here we are, already into June. This summer will fly by before we know it, and yet the time will have been mostly separated from our Sisters! Remember to lift her up in your prayers, and as time allows, please try to send her a token of your love in Christ for her!

God bless you, Ladies! Our Lord is moving within our group! See you all, very very soon!
