PRAYER for Tinker AFB/wildfires

Ladies, below is a message that was sent to Central Region board and posted on Central PWOC blog....I'm reposting it here to be sure as many as possible see and pray for those affected by the wildfire and specifically for this dear military family. De'Etta

Hello prayer warriors,

We've been checking on people all day, and just got word, one of our families had their house burn to the ground. Our PWOC sister, has lost her house and EVERYTHING in it. It has been listed as a total loss. Her husband, a Navy man, was in (overseas), and is now on his way home. She says that she feels a Spirit of peace about this right now. It's just stuff. Bless her for her example of faith!

Let's lift up this family to the throne. Let's pray for that Spirit of Peace to be strong and comforting for all of them. The kids are having the most trouble seeing all of their worldly possessions disappear. Let's pray for her husband to have safe and swift travels home. Let's pray for healing hearts and restoration after this sense of loss. Let's pray for God to lead them to a new home, neighborhood, and all that goes with it. May our Lord fill their new house with His love, comfort and grace.

Thank you for your prayers!
Deb

The More I Seek You....

This year's theme song (which has become a life song for many) seems right for this season...Passover/Lent/Easter.

This beautiful song is by Kari Jobe, who began leading worship at age 13. Click below to watch an interview with her about her new album and heart for worship.

Remember!

The Army Chief of Chaplains has issued a proclamation making today a "global day of fasting and prayer for the protection, preservation, and peace of military families."

Isn't it appropriate this call to prayer and fasting would come on the first day of Passover?

You can read Prayer Points here and the official proclamation from the Army Chief of Chaplains here.

Day of Fasting and Prayer (April 8)

As the suicide rate in the Army is at an unprecedented level, the Chief of Chaplains of the United States Army has issued a Proclamation for Prayer and Fasting in conjunction with the Army’s suicide stand down, prevention and training.

CH (MG) Carver has personally invited all military chapels and religious communities to participate in a day of Prayer and Fasting for the protection, preservation and peace for Army families on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.

For more info, see PWOC I Website.

Please pray on this day, even if you don't participate in the fast.

{I believe it is good for us, as a group, to remember to pray for those in all branches of our military for this matter...the Army specifically has voiced this need}.

Use the Tools

Are you aware that you can input any passage of Scripture into the search box above and go directly to tools for study? The Strong's numbers are listed for you, several Bible dictionaries are available, several translations are listed... Looking for the reference of some phrase you remember from a sermon or previous reading? Type in the phrase and the search engine will give you the reference.

LISTEN to well known Bible teachers right at your computer (or download for your mp3 player). Have you ever listened to Elisabeth Elliot (widow of martyred missionary Jim Elliot)? I find her motivating and easy to listen to. Pastor Chuck Smith (founder of Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa) has a virtual audio commentary of the entire Bible uploaded. Some of us remember the daily radio broadcasts on Christian radio from J. Vernon McGee as he "walked through the Bible" in the 1970's and 1980's. There are many other speakers available. You can also Google your favorite speaker to find mp3 files free online. Both Sue Edwards and Beth Moore, authors of our recent studies, have teachings available online.

Bible Gateway is another great site to visit when you are studying. I haven't found as many useful language tools on their site but they have an amazing list of Bible Translations that you can check out.

Enjoy the free tools available on the Internet.....and remember, Bible STUDY is not only for overachievers....."Be DILIGENT to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn't need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth". 2 Timothy 2:15 (Holman Christian Standard Bible). Yeah, before you tell me you have no plan to TEACH the word of truth....consider your life...do you have children, friends, co-workers who would benefit from you being able to correctly, accurately and clearly share the word of life? We are ALL teachers at some point in our lives. No outs on this one. ::snort::

Have you discovered some great Christian study tools? If so, share the links in the comment section. See you Tuesday!

2009/2010 Verse

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."

Secret Sister Summer

For the summer, we exchanged cards in order to pray for one another and to anonymously encourage one another.

Please lift your Secret Sister up in prayer daily. Feel free to send her cards, verses, funnies, whatever the Lord moves you to do. But remember... Keep it anonymous!

At the Fall Kick-off we will find out who are Secret Sisters are so we can thank them and follow up on those goals and prayers!

"My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God's grace for you. Stand firm in this grace." 1 Peter 5v12

Note from Christina on June 9~
Hello Sweet Sisters!

How is your summer going so far? Are you finding sweet notes of hope and love from your Secret Sister? Are you remembering to share hope and love with your Secret Sister? Here we are, already into June. This summer will fly by before we know it, and yet the time will have been mostly separated from our Sisters! Remember to lift her up in your prayers, and as time allows, please try to send her a token of your love in Christ for her!

God bless you, Ladies! Our Lord is moving within our group! See you all, very very soon!
