Goodfellow PWOC Goes To Regional Conference

This year, three of our ladies were able to attend the Central Region Conference held in Missouri.

The Conference offered the women from the Central Region the opportunity to come together for praise and worship, for Biblical teaching and growth, for communion with one another, and the incredible chance to be apart of the change of leadership for the next two years.

Held at the beautiful Windermere Conference Center, all who attended were given ample opportunity to get to know the women from their groups better, and to relax in God's creation for self-reflection or just for the fun of it!

The theme of 2009-2010 PWOC: Daughters of The King was reflected in the Conference Banquet (and throughout the weekend's classes and sessions) which sported the theme: Denim and Jewels.  To see so many of the 300+ women in attendance with their crowns, tieras, baubles, gems, and jewels with something as common place as denim, it is easy to see the correlation between the lesson of our PWOC theme.  We women are denim, and all the gifts we are given, namely that of Salvation and Grace, are the Jewels which turn our denim lives into something beautiful and spectacular!

Notes from the Conference:
   PWOC International Conference was announced.
We will be returning to Dallas, Texas in November 2010.
Please click here for more details.

We installed our new Regional Board, saying a fond farewell
to our loving and devoted old leadership, and giving a warm
and delighted welcome to our new leadership.
(Names to be announced soon.)

Rumor has it, PWOC will be changing its look!  How exciting!
Stay tuned to this site, for more information!!!

Our ladies came back with information about A Weekend To Remember, a marriage
conference offered by Family Life, a Campus Crusade ministry.  These conferences
are offered at different dates throughout the US.  Please visit this site to learn more.

Please continue to lift up in prayer those men and women from Fort Hood,
and from all the bases and units, families, friends, and communities that
were affected by the incident at Fort Hood!  Let us remember God's love
  and grace!

Music Accompaniment (Part One)

In our study of Grace, we are splitting up into groups and discussing what we have read through out the week.  In the Study Guide, used by our group leaders, there is a section that covers music that goes along with the message of the week.

I would like to take a moment to share those songs, and lyrics, if possible.  These offer greater insight into the meaning of Grace, and the message of Grace.  Music often opens our hearts and our minds and speaks to us more clearly than reading or hearing or memorizing.

If you would like to hear the music, simply click on the title of the song.  I have embedded links so that you can visit sites where you can hear the song.

Week One:
"Amazing Grace" by John Newton
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Week Two:
O sacred head, sore wounded,
defiled and put to scorn;
O kingly head surrounded
with mocking crown of thorn:
What sorrow mars thy grandeur?
Can death thy bloom deflower?
O countenance whose splendor
the hosts of heaven adore!
Thy beauty, long-desirèd,
hath vanished from our sight;
thy power is all expirèd,
and quenched the light of light.
Ah me! for whom thou diest,
hide not so far thy grace:
show me, O Love most highest,
the brightness of thy face.

Week Three:
"Kyrie" from Mozart's "Requiem"
Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.

Daughter's Of The King Kick-Off 2009

(Beautiful centerpiece made by Bobbie Jo)
Goodfellow PWOC celebrated a return to His Word with a reunion of friends, with the making of new friendships, with a dinner, with a craft project, and with some praise and worship.

Focusing on PWOC's theme, Daughters Of the King, the kick-off emphasized a joining of hearts and minds among the women as we look forward to a year of rejoicing in His love for us!

We started the celebration with a super supper partially catered by Steak Express, and enhanced by veggies, salads, and desserts brought by the Ladies.  During the supper, we were able to take that time to catch up with old friends, get aquainted with new friends, and discuss the Bible Study materials.

(Bobbie Jo and Stephanie)
After the feast, we joined together in Praise as Tammy and Lois led us in some favorite praise and worship songs.  With open hearts, we were led in a short devotional by Tammy, who then gave us our Bible Study book~"What's So Amazing About Grace" by Philip Yancey.

(Debbie and Tammy)
We then closed out the evening working on a Project of making bookmarks that will added to chapel packets.  These gorgeous bookmarks serve to get information to chapel newcomers about chapel programs, contact information, as well as letting women of the chapel know that PWOC is ready and eager to serve their needs!

If you are new to our website, and you are a Protestant Military Member or Military Wife serving at Goodfellow AFB, we would be HONORED to have you join us Tuesday nights.  For more information, please contact Debbie or Bobbie Jo.

God bless!!!

**All photos and names are used with permission.  I apologize that I did not take photos of everyone present at the kick-off.

2009/2010 Theme

2009/2010 Verse

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."
1 Peter 2:9-10(NKJV)

Secret Sister Summer

For the summer, we exchanged cards in order to pray for one another and to anonymously encourage one another.

Please lift your Secret Sister up in prayer daily. Feel free to send her cards, verses, funnies, whatever the Lord moves you to do. But remember... Keep it anonymous!

At the Fall Kick-off we will find out who are Secret Sisters are so we can thank them and follow up on those goals and prayers!

"My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God's grace for you. Stand firm in this grace." 1 Peter 5v12

Note from Christina on June 9~
Hello Sweet Sisters!

How is your summer going so far? Are you finding sweet notes of hope and love from your Secret Sister? Are you remembering to share hope and love with your Secret Sister? Here we are, already into June. This summer will fly by before we know it, and yet the time will have been mostly separated from our Sisters! Remember to lift her up in your prayers, and as time allows, please try to send her a token of your love in Christ for her!

God bless you, Ladies! Our Lord is moving within our group! See you all, very very soon!
